During the match, the fullback for Manly was seen grabbing his left hamstring after making a run. He appeared to be in pain just before the collision and subsequently limped off the field, ending his participation for the night. Clayton Fualalo replaced him, while Koula moved back to the fullback position. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Manly’s head coach, Kieran Foran, has provided an update concerning Tom Trbojevic’s condition. “He doesn’t seem to be in a good state right now. We will arrange for a scan to evaluate the extent of the injury,” Foran stated. “However, I’m proud of how the team adapted to the changes in positions. Our focus was clear from the beginning; we aimed to start strong and attack through the middle, and I believe the team executed that strategy well.” He commended the forwards for their performance against the opposing pack, noting that they were well-prepared for the physical contest.
North Queensland’s coach, Todd Payten, and captain, Reuben Cotter, expressed their frustrations following the game. Cotter remarked, “We couldn’t create opportunities for ourselves, especially with so many dropped balls.” He further highlighted the team’s low completion rate of 49 percent in the first half, which ultimately affected their performance in the latter stages of the game. Payten quickly added, “We were not complacent,” emphasizing their commitment to the match.
In the game, Fogarty successfully added two more points following a penalty against the Cowboys for a high tackle, showcasing his strong performance as part of a determined Manly team, contrasting sharply with the Cowboys’ lackluster display. Dearden’s efforts to secure a drop-out by kicking for himself indicated that the Cowboys were still chasing a consolation try.
After some confusion, Manly was awarded a penalty when Luke was deemed to have moved ahead of the play-the-ball. The Cowboys made multiple mistakes throughout the match, including dropped passes and penalties, which severely hindered their chances. Fogarty’s impressive performance continued as he executed a grubber kick for himself, regaining possession and setting up Brooks for a superb try, bringing the score to 36-6.
Following that, Hetherington broke through the middle, and Koula offloaded to Simpkin, who cleverly maneuvered past defenders to score. Though the grounding was questionable, the Bunker confirmed it was valid, and with Fogarty’s conversion, the score expanded to 30-6.
Dearden attempted to connect with Chester, who almost reached the corner, but Koula’s brilliant defensive play prevented a try. Another error from the Cowboys occurred when Dearden’s pass was mishandled, further compounding their woes. Manly’s superior field positioning suggested that they could easily score again.
After a penalty against Waddell, Fogarty opted for two points, extending Manly’s lead to 24-6. Despite a brief offensive surge from the Cowboys, a forward pass from Dearden allowed Manly to escape further pressure.
As the second half commenced, the Cowboys faced an uphill battle. Clifford’s knock-on marked their 11th error of the first half, with a completion rate of just 8 out of 19 attempts. Manly had one last chance before the break, and although Fogarty’s kick nearly found Koula, Drinkwater managed to tap it dead just in time.
The second half began with Drinkwater losing track of a high ball, allowing Hopoate to collect it and pass to Wakeham for a try, increasing Manly’s score to 22-6. Mikaele’s attempt to score from close range was denied after review, marking frustration for him as he has yet to score in his NRL career.
With momentum shifting, a penalty for an escort gave Manly another opportunity to attack. Fogarty’s kick found Ben Trbojevic, who scored, although there were questions about his position at the time of the pass. The conversion confirmed Manly’s 16-6 lead.
After a period of pressure from the Cowboys, Dearden’s clever play enabled Hess to score, bringing the Cowboys back into contention at 10-6 after Clifford’s successful conversion. However, a subsequent error from Purdue put Manly back on the attack, leading to Hopoate’s second try following a well-executed play.
While Chester dropped the ball during an opportunity for the Cowboys, Manly maintained possession and continued to exploit defensive errors. The match displayed the contrasting fortunes of both teams, with Manly capitalizing on mistakes while the Cowboys struggled to find their rhythm.
