This morning, on the 20th of October, the Presidential Secretariat hosted the presentation of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s “Annual Economic Review 2025” and “Financial Statements and Operations 2025” to the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, officially delivered the two reports to the President.
The Annual Economic Review 2025, a key publication from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, indicates that the country’s economy has continued to build on the advancements made in previous years. This progress has been bolstered by sustained macroeconomic stability and the ongoing implementation of policy and structural reforms. The report highlights that, despite facing increased global uncertainties due to trade tensions and geopolitical issues, alongside adverse weather and natural disasters later in 2025, domestic economic activity has shown remarkable resilience. It stresses that improved macroeconomic conditions and enhanced policy stability have contributed to heightened investor confidence, enabling the economy to develop stronger buffers against potential shocks and facilitating a pathway toward sustainable growth.
In attendance at the event were the Minister of Labour, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Harshana Sooriyaapperuma, along with several senior officials from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
