Teen in serious condition following partial amputation from sword assault in Zirakpur, authorities report.

A 19-year-old male sustained severe injuries, including the partial severing of his right arm near the elbow, during a sword attack linked to an ongoing feud between two groups at Highland Park in Zirakpur, local authorities reported on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Bhupinder Singh, resides at Aastha Apartments along Patiala Road. Medical professionals described his condition as critical due to multiple serious wounds.

According to police accounts, Bhupinder indicated that he received a phone call from his brother, Ranveer Singh, who informed him that he had been assaulted by Gurpreet Singh. Upon Bhupinder’s arrival at the scene, Gurpreet appeared shortly thereafter, accompanied by six or seven associates, leading to a heated argument that escalated into violence.

A police officer detailed, “During the confrontation, Gurpreet attacked Bhupinder with a sword. Despite attempts to protect himself, Bhupinder was struck multiple times, resulting in his right arm being partially severed near the elbow, along with severe injuries to his chest and waist before he collapsed.”

The attack also targeted Ranveer, who sustained injuries to his head and above one eye. The assailants fled the scene after threatening both brothers.

According to Zirakpur Station House Officer (SHO) Satinder Singh, “We arrived at the location within ten minutes of the incident. The victim was promptly transported to Civil Hospital in Dhakoli in a police vehicle and was subsequently referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh. At this facility, police documented the victim’s statement. His condition remains extremely critical, and medical staff are doing everything possible to save him. The suspects will be apprehended shortly.”

Based on Bhupinder’s testimony, police have initiated a case against Gurpreet Singh and several unidentified individuals under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Zirakpur police station. The SHO added, “We are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to aid in the identification and arrest of all individuals involved in this incident.”
