A tragic incident occurred in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, where a group of bystanders attempting to assist victims of a motorcycle accident lost their lives when a speeding vehicle collided with them.
On Sunday morning, two motorcycles crashed in Jalalpur, involving three riders on one bike and a solo rider on the other. This collision resulted in injuries to two individuals, prompting nearby residents to come to their aid. While they were rendering assistance, a car traveling at high speed lost control and struck the group. Tragically, six individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at a local community health center. Additionally, two critically injured victims were subsequently transferred to a district hospital and later to a facility in Tanda, where they succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to eight.
Authorities reported that the driver of the car attempted to flee the scene but lost control, leading the vehicle to veer off the road and become lodged in a roadside pit. The driver abandoned the car and escaped on foot but has since been apprehended.
Additional Superintendent of Police Harendra Kumar confirmed that the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Vishal Vishkarma, is currently undergoing interrogation.
Law enforcement officials are working to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident and are investigating whether a mechanical failure contributed to the crash. The vehicle has been sent for a technical assessment to determine its condition at the time of the incident.
Circle Officer Anoop Kumar Singh indicated that further clarity regarding the circumstances of this unfortunate event will emerge following the collection of statements from eyewitnesses and local residents who witnessed the scene during the accident.
