Sri Lanka Grants Vehicle Contracts Worth Rs1.46 Billion to United Motors, Toyota, and DIMO

Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers has given the green light to a proposal for the procurement of vehicles, including cabs and tractors, totaling 1,458.75 million rupees. The announcement was made by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.

According to Jayatissa, these vehicles are designated for the Department of Wildlife Conservation, intended for managing wild elephants and other related field activities.

The procurement process involved soliciting bids for 16 double cabs, 84 single cabs, and 9 four-wheel tractors. The Cabinet has sanctioned the purchase of these vehicles from the lowest bidders.

The contract for the 16 double cabs was awarded to United Motors Lanka PLC for 300 million rupees, exclusive of taxes. Meanwhile, Toyota Lanka (Pvt) Ltd secured the bid for the 84 single cabs at a cost of 1,134 million rupees. The tender for the 9 four-wheel tractors went to Diesel & Motors Engineering PLC for 24.75 million rupees.
