Breaking: Israel Launches Airstrikes on Beirut, Marking First Assault Since Hezbollah Ceasefire

Amid rising optimism regarding a potential long-term agreement between the United States and Iran, President Trump has assured reporters that the U.S. will obtain Tehran’s stockpile of enriched uranium. Speaking to the press after an event at the White House on Wednesday, Trump stated, “We’re going to get it.”

One of Trump’s primary goals in initiating military operations against Iran was to prevent the nation from developing nuclear weapons. To date, Iran has not surrendered over 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium.

In related developments, a U.S. warplane has reportedly targeted and incapacitated the rudder of an Iranian oil tanker attempting to breach Washington’s blockade of Iranian ports, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). The agency confirmed that an F/A-18 Super Hornet fired upon the vessel, as the crew allegedly did not comply with orders to halt, resulting in the damage.

In other news, Israel has conducted airstrikes in Beirut, marking its first assault on the Lebanese capital since the recent ceasefire with Hezbollah. The Israeli government claimed the strikes aimed to eliminate a senior commander within Hezbollah. While the identity of the official has not been disclosed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the operation targeted the commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan force, who is believed to be responsible for attacks on Israeli territories and personnel.

Despite expressing hope for a peace agreement with Iran, Trump warned that military action would resume if negotiations falter. The U.S. leader remarked that should Iran comply with the agreed terms, the conflict could conclude, but failure to do so would lead to intensified bombing efforts. He reiterated his belief in the possibility of peace, stating, “I think it’s got a very good chance of ending, and if it doesn’t end, we have to go back to bombing the hell out of them,” during an interview with PBS.

As the situation develops, we welcome you to our live coverage of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The prospect of a peace deal with Iran remains uncertain as Israel resumes its military actions against Hezbollah in Beirut, coinciding with Tehran’s consideration of a proposal from the United States.
