Mohali MLA announces release of ₹1.88 crore to enhance village panchayat development initiatives.

On Wednesday, Kulwant Singh, the MLA from Mohali, handed out cheques totaling Rs 1.88 crore to various village panchayats as part of the “Rangla Punjab” initiative aimed at enhancing development activities. Additionally, he allocated Rs 62 lakh to assist 31 families with home repairs.

The MLA detailed specific fund allocations, including Rs 5 lakh designated for solar lights and road improvements leading to Karonda Wale Pir in Behlolpur village; Rs 3 lakh for street lighting in Saidpur; Rs 5 lakh for street and drainage projects in Raipur Kalan; Rs 2 lakh for streetlights in Dhirpur; and Rs 4 lakh for constructing a culvert, placing a slab over a drain, and installing streetlights in Jheorheri.

Moreover, Rs 7 lakh has been set aside for streetlights in Jujhar Nagar; Rs 5 lakh for constructing a panchayat ghar in Kurda; Rs 4 lakh for leveling a playground in Kandala; Rs 4 lakh for paver blocks extending from the village entrance to Gurdwara Sahib in Manakpur Kallar; Rs 3 lakh for streetlights in Patto; Rs 4 lakh for similar installations in Manoli; and Rs 2 lakh in Matta.

In addition, Rs 7 lakh has been allocated for building classrooms in the primary school at Manana; Rs 4 lakh for new rooms and repairs at the anganwadi center in Bad Majra; Rs 5 lakh for enhancing the cremation ground in that village; Rs 3 lakh for a room in the general dharamshala at Shyampur; Rs 3 lakh for completing shed work at the community center in Saini Majra; Rs 4 lakh for an anganwadi center in Raipur Khurd; Rs 4 lakh for streetlights and convex mirrors at crucial turns in Gobindgarh; Rs 7 lakh for rainwater drainage in Alipur; and Rs 6 lakh for road work in Gidderpur.

The MLA remarked, “Each of the 31 families will receive Rs 2 lakh to repair or reconstruct their damaged homes. Previously, we released Rs 2.5 crore under this initiative, and we anticipate further funding in the coming days to promote comprehensive rural development.”

Emphasizing the government’s strategy, Kulwant Singh stated, “The AAP government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, focuses on executing plans rather than merely making announcements.” He criticized former governments for their tendency to limit their commitments to mere statements.

When asked about political opponents, the MLA declined to comment on Amarjit Singh Sidhu and Balbir Singh Sidhu, asserting that voters in the constituency have entirely dismissed both figures, who he claims prioritized personal gain over public welfare.

Kulwant Singh added, “I have already provided support to numerous households and have been involved in the construction of nearly 200 homes. The extensive development initiatives currently underway will significantly enhance the rural setting of our constituency.”

In response to criticism regarding the “CM Lok Milni” event held at Saneta, the MLA stated, “Opponents are expressing unfounded claims driven by frustration. Attendees of the event are aware of the reality. No coercion or transportation was used; participation was enthusiastic and voluntary.”

Addressing the recent sacrilege incident, he affirmed that strict measures would be taken against those accountable, stating, “Those responsible for desecrating Gutka Sahib should be imprisoned. They are adversaries of both the Guru and humanity.”

Furthermore, Kulwant Singh announced that Rs 50 crore had been approved for development projects in 12 villages recently integrated into the Mohali Municipal Corporation. “Tenders have been issued, and construction will commence within the next 15 days,” he confirmed.
