On Tuesday evening, authorities announced that they had located the body of a 13-year-old boy who had been reported missing earlier that day in a densely wooded area of South Delhi.
Investigators revealed that the boy was allegedly murdered by two minors who had a personal vendetta against him.
These two suspects were taken into custody on Tuesday night as part of the ongoing investigation, according to police officials.
Law enforcement stated that the incident began on Monday when one of the accused physically confronted the victim, which led to an escalation of tensions between them.
While local residents intervened during the initial confrontation, the animosity continued to grow, culminating in the alleged murder later that same day, police reported.
It was noted that the boy was playing cricket near a temple on Monday afternoon when the two suspects approached him under the guise of reconciliation.
They allegedly enticed him into the forest by claiming they were going to bury a dead dog. Once they were in the secluded area, they reportedly strangled him to death and one of the assailants also struck him in the face with a brick, according to police accounts.
The boy’s father returned home on Monday evening only to discover that his son had been missing since around 3 PM. After a fruitless search, the family decided to report him as missing on Tuesday.
Police indicated that the arrests of the juvenile suspects were made possible through the use of technical evidence gathered during the investigation.
