The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune will begin accepting online reservations for distinctive registration numbers from the new MH 12 ZR series for two-wheelers, starting Tuesday, May 12, at 12:00 PM.
This information was shared by the Deputy Regional Transport Officer of Pune in an official press announcement on Monday. Interested individuals can make their reservations through the dedicated website at ‘https://fancy.parivahan.gov.in’. As with previous series, the entire procedure is conducted online, requiring digital payment of fees, as no cash transactions will be processed at the RTO office.
To finalize a reservation, applicants must authenticate their identity using a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to their mobile number linked with their Aadhaar. This allows the entire process to be completed without needing to visit the transport office in person.
There has been a growing interest in unique vehicle registration numbers in Pune, with bidding amounts that often astonish observers. For instance, during an auction in November 2025, a bidder paid Rs 7,77,777 for the number ‘0007’, which had an initial bidding price of merely Rs 6,000, indicating a winning bid that was over 129 times the starting amount.
Historically, the single-digit number ‘1’ has garnered the most intense competition. In 2024, it was sold for a staggering Rs 18 lakh, up significantly from the Rs 12 lakh it commanded in 2023. This 50% increase in just one year highlights the importance that vehicle buyers in Pune place on their registration numbers.
In addition to single-digit numbers, various combinations such as 9, 12, 24, 90, 99, 100, 101, 1212, 2121, 7070, 9090, and 9999 also enjoy high popularity, consistently attracting interest every time a new series is launched.
