Donald Trump stated that he was not directly involved in establishing an anti-weaponization fund but remarked that the initiative had received favorable reactions.

When asked about the fund’s management and whether the president or his family would pursue financial compensation from it, Trump responded that the decisions would be made by a committee of “highly skilled individuals.”

In a significant legal outcome, a jury has sided with Sam Altman and OpenAI in a case brought by Elon Musk.

The federal jury in Oakland, California, determined that Altman, OpenAI, and its president Greg Brockman were not responsible for Musk’s allegations of unjust enrichment and breach of a founding agreement related to the startup’s establishment. The verdict was reached in under two hours, strongly countering Musk’s claims that Altman had “misappropriated a charity” during his tenure at OpenAI. This ruling also positions the AI company favorably as it considers going public later this year with an estimated valuation of $1 trillion.

In international news, the U.S. State Department has imposed new sanctions against Cuban governmental entities and officials. The sanctions specifically target the Interior Ministry, the National Police, and include measures against 11 officials, among them the chief of staff of the Cuban army and the justice ministers.

The Senate has confirmed Steve Pearce, a former congressman from New Mexico, to lead the Bureau of Land Management, following his nomination by Donald Trump. Senator Adam Schiff of California expressed his sorrow, saying, “I am heartbroken by the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, and my thoughts are with the families of the three innocent lives lost today. This shooting represents a horrific attack on the Muslim community in Southern California, and every American should be able to practice their faith without fear of violence.”

Governor Gavin Newsom and his partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom shared their condolences, stating, “California extends our deepest sympathies to the families and communities affected by today’s shooting. No worshipper should ever have to fear for their safety. Hate has no place in California, and we will not tolerate acts of terror or intimidation against any faith community.”

Congresswoman Sara Jacobs commended law enforcement for their quick response, saying, “I am grateful for the brave actions of first responders who faced danger to save lives during the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.”

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords lamented the pervasive issue of gun violence, highlighting, “No one should live in fear of daily gun violence, particularly when targeted based on race or religion. My heart goes out to the Muslim community in San Diego and across the nation, and to the families of those who tragically should have returned home safely today.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations shared a social media message stating, “To God we belong, and to Him we return. No one should ever fear for their safety while attending prayers or studying at school.”
