Tragic Road Incidents in Delhi Claim Two Lives and Leave One in Critical Condition Within a 30-Hour Span

On Monday, the Delhi Police reported that two individuals lost their lives and another suffered severe injuries in two distinct traffic incidents that occurred within a span of 30 hours in the Southwest and East regions of Delhi.

The first incident was reported around 2 am on Sunday, following a call to the police control room about a collision near 31 Block, Nala Road in Southwest Delhi. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and discovered that a motorcycle had collided with an auto-rickshaw.

The victim has been identified as Kapil, a 40-year-old resident of Trilokpuri. Authorities stated that Kapil was a passenger in the auto-rickshaw during the crash. The motorcyclist, identified as Satyam, is a 25-year-old, also from Trilokpuri. Kapil was pronounced dead at LBS Hospital, whereas Satyam sustained serious injuries and was subsequently transferred to GTB Hospital for further medical care.

According to the police, they are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity as part of the ongoing investigation. Since Satyam was deemed unable to provide a statement, legal proceedings have commenced based on medical evidence and the facts available. The police have registered a case at Mayur Vihar police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 281 (rash or negligent driving), 125A (endangering life or personal safety), and 106 (causing death by negligence).

The second incident occurred around 6 am on Monday on Aruna Asaf Ali Road in Southwest Delhi, where an unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. The deceased was identified as Rohit, a 20-year-old BSc student from Mehrauli. He was declared dead at Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj.

A case has been filed at Kishangarh police station under various sections of the BNS, and the investigation is ongoing to identify the vehicle involved and locate any potential witnesses, according to police officials.
