Prime Group Names Dr. Saman Mahawatta as CEO of Prime Constructions and Chief Executive Officer of Prime – Melwa Port City

In a strategic move to bolster its leadership capabilities, Prime Group has appointed Dr. Saman Mahawatta as the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Constructions (Pvt) Ltd (PCL). In addition to this role, Dr. Mahawatta will also take on the position of Chief Executive Officer at Prime – Melwa Port City (Pvt) Ltd.

Dr. Mahawatta brings with him over 30 years of extensive experience in the construction and development industries, having successfully managed numerous high-profile projects both in Sri Lanka and abroad. His prior leadership roles, particularly at Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, allowed him to oversee multidisciplinary teams and significant infrastructure initiatives, garnering recognition on both national and international stages.

This appointment reflects Prime Group’s dedication to fostering innovation, growth, and strong leadership, positioning both Prime Constructions and Prime – Melwa Port City as influential entities in shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s built environment and real estate market.

He also possesses three Master’s Degrees in Project Management, Construction Law, and Business Administration (Finance).

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Mahawatta is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Civil Engineer, a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a certified Six Sigma Practitioner and Green Accredited Professional. His memberships and fellowships span 16 esteemed national and global professional organizations. His areas of expertise include project management, investment analysis, buildability assessments, value engineering, and sustainable construction practices, establishing him as a leader in modern infrastructure development.
