Sri Lanka’s Rupee Declines to 345.50 Against the US Dollar for TTs, Bond Yields Rise

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, Sri Lanka’s rupee did not have a closing quote with spot transactions occurring between 329.25 (low) and 330.25 (high) against the dollar, according to market dealers. Additionally, bond yields experienced an upward trend.

The telegraphic transfer (TT) exchange rate for the dollar was recorded at 336.5000 for buying and 345.5000 for selling.

A bond set to mature on December 15, 2026, concluded at a yield of 9.55/70 percent. The bond maturing on December 15, 2029, saw an increase, closing at 10.30/45 percent, compared to the previous rate of 10.20/30 percent.

Similarly, the bond maturing on August 1, 2030, rose to a yield of 10.35/50 percent, up from 10.30/40 percent. The bond with a maturity date of June 15, 2034, also increased, closing at 11.40/50 percent, compared to the prior closing of 11.35/42 percent. Lastly, the bond maturing on August 15, 2036, finished the day at 11.25/70 percent. (Colombo/May20/2026)
