A man in his twenties is currently receiving medical attention for arm injuries sustained during a stabbing incident at a crowded shopping center in Toowoomba, Queensland.
An eyewitness recounted witnessing a confrontation involving a group of young individuals.
Authorities have detained a person of interest related to the event.
The injured man was treated for minor arm wounds after the stabbing occurred just before 2 PM near the Big W store in the Grand Central Shopping Centre.
In response to the situation, emergency services were dispatched, and both Big W and nearby retailers were temporarily locked down.
Paramedics attended to the injured individual on-site before transporting him to Toowoomba Base Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Jeremy Adams, who observed the event while working at a nearby doughnut kiosk, described seeing a “group of youths” in a state of chaos. He mentioned, “One of them took out what appeared to be a hunting knife, measuring over nine inches, and began to chase another youth.”
This incident follows a previous stabbing that occurred in the same shopping center just a month ago. On May 8, an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing near the Woolworths supermarket located within Grand Central.
Additionally, on May 30, police responded to a report of a 15-year-old boy being stabbed in the leg and hand during a fight on a street corner in inner-city Toowoomba. The teenager was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities have urged anyone who may possess information or dashcam footage related to the altercation to come forward.
