Vicky Kaushal shares candid insights on the toughest challenge of being a father: “I felt my heart drop.”

The question of whether Vicky Kaushal attracts more attention for his acting career or his role as a devoted family man remains ambiguous. While the actor is widely acclaimed for his performances, he also frequently finds himself in the limelight due to his strong commitment to family life.

Since the arrival of his son, Vihaan, with wife Katrina Kaif, Vicky has become increasingly introspective, acknowledging that fatherhood has positively transformed his life.

In an interview, Vicky revealed that after taking six weeks of paternity leave to bond with Katrina and their newborn, he felt a profound sense of longing for his son upon returning to work. He shared, “My heart sank. It was hard,” reflecting on his emotional struggle during his first day back after Vihaan’s birth.

Vicky expressed that his love for his son only deepens with each passing day. He remarked, “There are so many new feelings that surface almost on a daily basis, because being a parent is new to me. I understand now when others would say, ‘the child is growing up so quickly.’ I would think, ‘What are you talking about? Your child is still a year old.’ Now I get it.”

Though Vihaan is only seven months old, Vicky has a clear vision of the type of parent he aspires to be. He feels a strong sense of accountability for the values his son will adopt, recognizing that children learn by observing their parents’ actions.

He stated, “It occurs to me at the most random moments that instilling the right values is now my responsibility towards my son. He is going to learn by observing how his parents think, talk, and behave. So, I’ve realized whatever I want to see reflected in him has to come in my actions rather than words.”

Vicky also noted that becoming a parent has given him a renewed appreciation for his own upbringing. He reflected, “When I look at my upbringing in retrospect, I understand so many things that my parents were right about. We weren’t financially flying, so there was that pressure. But they had the responsibility of instilling the right values in me.”

When questioned about the possibility of venturing into entrepreneurship like Katrina, Vicky expressed doubt about his current capabilities in managing a business. He commended Katrina for her successful management of her makeup brand, Kay Beauty, acknowledging her business acumen and dedication.

He concluded, “The more I see how hard she works on every aspect of Kay Beauty, the more I feel that I’m not meant to run a business. At least not right now. Katrina has great business sense. She is driven. I have tremendous respect for her. But if I were to get into a business, I would first have to learn the ropes.”
