The inaugural single from Jason Sanjay, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay, titled “Sigma Style,” was unveiled on Thursday. This launch signifies the commencement of promotional activities for one of the most eagerly awaited directorial debuts in Tamil cinema this year.
The track, composed by Thaman S and featuring performances by Sundeep Kishan and Jason himself, has resonated well with audiences, receiving accolades for its vibrant energy and Kishan’s impressive dance sequences in the accompanying music video.
“Sigma” is produced by Subaskaran under the Lyca Productions label, recognized for major films such as “2.0” and “Ponniyin Selvan.” The film is being created in both Tamil and Telugu languages. Faria Abdullah stars as the female lead opposite Sundeep, supported by a cast that includes Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Pandit, Yog Japee, Anbu Thasan, Kiran Konda, and Magalakshmi Sudharsanan.
Born on August 26, 2000, in London, Jason Sanjay is the son of Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam. He spent his childhood in Chennai, where he attended the American International School. Later, he studied filmmaking in Toronto, Canada, and pursued screenwriting in London before returning to Chennai to embark on his career in directing.
In contrast to many children of film industry veterans who often start as actors, Jason opted for a behind-the-scenes role from the outset. His initial project was a short film titled “Pull the Trigger,” which he directed in 2023 while honing his filmmaking skills.
Sundeep Kishan reminisced about how their collaboration began, noting that he first learned of Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut from Vijay. “I met Vijay sir during the pooja of ‘Leo,’ and he mentioned that his son was set to debut as a director and expressed that Jason Sanjay is a fan of my work,” Sundeep shared in an interview.
He further characterized Jason as “an incredibly diligent young man” who, along with his team, has been dedicatedly working on the film for an extended period.
“Sigma” is categorized as an action-comedy heist film. The narrative centers on a rebellious hero who forges his own destiny through determination and resilience. Set against a treasure hunt backdrop, the film weaves together elements of mystery, humor, and thrilling adventure. The teaser, released in December 2025, featured Sundeep Kishan in a rugged look amidst striking visuals.
The upcoming film will determine whether Jason Sanjay can craft a movie that stands on its own merit, despite the significant family legacy he brings. The film is set to premiere on July 31.
