Authorities have taken six individuals into custody in connection with the death and suspected abduction of a man whose remains were discovered near a playground in Tarneit.
On Wednesday, law enforcement conducted searches at multiple locations following the man’s death last month.
A 23-year-old male, along with four teenagers aged 17, has been charged with multiple offenses, including murder, kidnapping, home invasion, and arson.
The investigation by Victoria Police revealed that a 30-year-old man was allegedly abducted from a residence on Darius Terrace in South Morang during the early hours of May 15.
Reports indicate that he was forcibly removed from his home around 3 a.m. and placed into a vehicle that subsequently drove away.
The victim’s body was located near a playground on Bruny Drive in Tarneit at approximately 4:30 a.m. the same morning.
Authorities suspect that the vehicle involved in the abduction was later set on fire on Mt Mary Road in Eynesbury.
As part of their investigation, police executed search warrants at various properties in Melbourne on Wednesday.
The arrests included a 23-year-old man from Truganina, an 18-year-old man from Point Cook, and four 17-year-old males.
Charges against the 23-year-old and the four teenagers include murder, kidnapping, aggravated home invasion, and arson. The 18-year-old faces charges of aiding offenders and arson.
All individuals charged are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
