Tharun Moorthy Addresses Speculations Surrounding the Suspension of Mohanlal’s Athimanoharam Filming

Director Tharun Moorthy addressed rumors on Thursday through his Instagram account, refuting claims that the production of his forthcoming Malayalam film, Athimanoharam, featuring Mohanlal in the leading role, had been halted due to “confusion in the script.” In a message shared via his Instagram Story, Moorthy labeled the reports as entirely unfounded and confirmed that filming has been ongoing in Thodupuzha for the last 78 days.

“I have been inundated with messages and calls regarding online reports asserting that our shoot has been suspended due to script issues. This information is completely incorrect,” he stated. Moorthy acknowledged that adverse weather conditions, including rain in Thodupuzha, had posed some challenges, but emphasized that the team was navigating these obstacles with optimism and dedication.

Furthermore, he expressed concern over the spread of unverified information. “I urge everyone not to share or disseminate unverified news for personal gain, such as likes or views. Such falsehoods can lead to unnecessary confusion among viewers and hinder the efforts of the entire team,” he remarked.

Moorthy’s clarification comes as excitement for Athimanoharam continues to grow. He has previously countered assumptions that the new film would mirror the format of Thudarum, asserting that Athimanoharam is a police procedural interwoven with significant family drama, and he encouraged audiences to manage their expectations accordingly.

Athimanoharam, which was initially known by its working title L366, represents Mohanlal’s 366th film and marks his second collaboration with Tharun Moorthy following Thudarum, which debuted in April 2025.

In this film, Mohanlal portrays Sub-Inspector T S Lovelajan. The first look poster, which gained widespread attention, depicted him in police attire amidst Ayyappa devotees en route to Sabarimala. The screenplay is crafted by Ratheesh Ravi, with music composed by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Shaji Kumar, and editing by Vivek Harshan, recognized for his contributions to Manjummel Boys and Aavesham. Meera Jasmine stars as the female lead, reuniting with Mohanlal after several years apart.

The filming commenced on January 23 in Thodupuzha, with the official launch event held at the Vaikom Mahadeva Temple, a location that Tharun Moorthy has chosen for the inauguration of all his films to date.
