The World Cup is set to return to the United States for the first time in 32 years. The U.S. Men’s National Team will kick off the tournament on Friday, joining Canada and Mexico as one of the three host nations.
Having last participated in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar after missing the 2018 event in Russia, the U.S. men’s team will commence its campaign on the tournament’s second day.
The U.S. is placed in Group D and is scheduled to compete in a minimum of three matches during the group stage in June. Their matchups and timetable are as follows:
Following the group stage, the knockout phase will commence on June 28. The two top teams from each group, along with the eight third-placed teams with the highest points, will qualify for the round of 32.
Should the U.S. advance, its opponents in the knockout stage will be determined by the outcomes of the group stage matches.
If the U.S. secures the top position in Group D, it will face off on July 1 at 8 p.m. ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Conversely, if they finish as the second-place team in the group, their match will take place on July 3 at 2 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
The round of 16 is scheduled between July 4 and July 7, with the quarterfinal matches occurring on July 9 and July 10.
The semifinals will be held on July 14, culminating in the World Cup final, which will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
This edition of the World Cup will showcase 48 teams and will consist of 104 matches over a span of 39 days.
