On Monday, U.S. Soccer and Nike introduced the latest national team uniforms in anticipation of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. This new collection features two primary jerseys adorned with stars and stripes, in addition to a fresh goalkeeper outfit.
The United States men’s national soccer team is slated to showcase these new uniforms for the first time later this month in Atlanta, as confirmed by U.S. Soccer.
According to Nike, the jersey designs were crafted with significant input from players, who provided feedback on various elements such as fabric weight and seam positioning. The athletes also contributed insights regarding the jerseys’ breathability and mobility, allowing them to concentrate on their gameplay, as stated by Nike.
“Wearing a national team jersey embodies the pride of representing the crest, not only for the athletes on the field but for the fans who support them throughout,” remarked Dave Wright, U.S. Soccer’s chief commercial officer, in a press release.
Each jersey features a discreet “Inner Pride” emblem located in the collar, symbolizing the drive that athletes carry into competitions, according to U.S. Soccer and Nike. Additionally, new typefaces, named the Stars and Stripes fonts, have been specifically developed for U.S. Soccer to be used exclusively on uniforms and other branding materials in the future.
Prominent national team players such as Haji Wright, Diego Luna, Folarin Balogun, Alyssa Thompson, and Rose Lavelle participated in the promotional campaign for the new kits. Members of both the men’s and women’s teams are also anticipated to work with Nike as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The new jerseys will be available to fans in two versions: an authentic match edition that includes the same performance technology utilized by players, and a more affordable stadium version. U.S. Soccer and Nike announced that these jerseys will be sold at retail outlets nationwide and online in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup is set to commence on June 11 and will conclude with the final match on July 19, featuring competitions in various host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
U.S. Soccer noted that the designs of the new kits draw inspiration from previous jerseys, with Nike designers consulting the men’s team players about past uniforms they favored.
“Revising a recognizable design allows us to pay homage to the past while simultaneously creating something innovative,” stated color designer Natalie McKeough in a press release.
Among the historical designs that influenced the current kits is the “Waldo” jersey from 2012, as highlighted by both Nike and U.S. Soccer. A distinct style of stripes was also a notable feature of the 1994 World Cup uniform.
