Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the dismissal of Rob Edwards, who was appointed as head coach last November after previously managing Middlesbrough. His tenure was cut short due to the team’s inability to secure safety in the Premier League amidst ongoing struggles.

Edwards entered a contract lasting three and a half years when he took over at Wolves, succeeding Vítor Pereira, who is currently the head coach at Nottingham Forest. Upon his arrival, the team was at the bottom of the Premier League table with only two points from eleven matches, and despite his efforts, he could not turn the situation around. As a result, Wolves faced relegation in April, concluding an eight-year period in the top division.

Reports indicate that César Peixoto, the manager of Gil Vicente, is being considered as a potential successor to Edwards.

Edwards’ termination follows the club’s proactive steps in preparation for the Championship, which includes the acquisition of players like Kieran Trippier and Raúl Jiménez, the latter returning for a second stint at the club.
