Emirates Airlines is set to launch a second daily service using the A350 aircraft on the Dubai to Colombo route starting from August 8. This move aims to enhance the travel options available to passengers, allowing them to experience the airline’s state-of-the-art aircraft and its popular Premium Economy class. The new A350 service will replace the current Boeing 777 used for this route.
The addition of the A350 on flights EK648/649 will effectively double the availability of Premium Economy seats, highlighting Emirates’ dedication to providing greater comfort for travelers journeying to and from Sri Lanka. Currently, the airline operates four daily flights to Colombo, utilizing a combination of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
The second A350 service will depart from Dubai International Airport at 16:10 local time and arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport at 22:10. The return flight, EK649, will leave Colombo at 02:55 and land in Dubai at 05:50, with all times listed as local.
The A350 features spacious and bright cabins with increased space across all classes, along with Emirates’ latest technological advancements including high-definition inflight entertainment screens, improved Wi-Fi connectivity, and wider aisles, among various other enhancements.
A standout feature of the A350 is Emirates’ acclaimed Premium Economy cabin, which has quickly become one of the airline’s most desirable products. It boasts a spacious 2-3-2 seating arrangement with cream leather seats and sophisticated wood finishes. Each seat measures 19.5 inches in width, offers a 40-inch pitch, an 8-inch recline, and a six-way adjustable headrest, complemented by a 13.3-inch screen for entertainment. Passengers are welcomed with a drink upon boarding and have access to seasonal menus, an exclusive amenity kit, an eco-friendly blanket, and a generously sized pillow, all designed with attention to detail. On the ground, Premium Economy travelers benefit from priority boarding, a dedicated check-in area at Dubai International Airport, and a baggage allowance of up to 35kg.
The introduction of this additional A350 service builds upon the successful launch of the aircraft on this route in March 2025, when Emirates first introduced its Premium Economy offering in Sri Lanka. This expansion further emphasizes the airline’s ongoing investment in the region.
Emirates currently operates three non-stop daily flights between Colombo and Dubai, alongside an additional daily flight that connects through Male.
