Authorities are currently looking into two suspicious residential fires that ignited just minutes apart in adjacent neighborhoods in northern Melbourne.

Firefighters responded to a blaze at an unoccupied residence in Keilor Downs, which suffered extensive damage as a result.

Meanwhile, in the nearby suburb of Taylors Lakes, three individuals were forced to evacuate their home after flames from two vehicles spread to their property.

Emergency services received reports of a fire at a house located on Morecambe Crescent in Keilor Downs at approximately 2:45 AM.

According to Fire Rescue Victoria, over 20 firefighters were deployed to tackle the fire at the single-storey brick dwelling.

No occupants were present at the time of the incident, and the fire was brought under control within about half an hour.

Victoria Police have classified the fire as suspicious and noted that it caused considerable damage to the structure. An investigation is currently underway.

Just 15 minutes later, firefighters were dispatched to a residence in Taylors Lakes, situated less than two kilometers from the first fire.

Upon arrival at the property on Pindari Avenue, crews discovered two cars ablaze in the carport, with the fire having spread to the house itself.

Fortunately, the three individuals inside managed to evacuate safely and were unharmed.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire and prevented it from affecting neighboring homes.

Victoria Police have also labeled this fire as suspicious and confirmed that an investigation is in progress.

At this time, authorities do not believe the two incidents are connected.
