In a shocking incident, a nurse is accused of murdering her husband shortly after his return from the Gulf by allegedly pushing him from their home’s terrace and administering a lethal mixture of powdered sleeping pills, toilet cleaner, and tile cleaner acid. This information was disclosed by the police in Nizamabad, Telangana.
Authorities reported that D Sandhya had meticulously planned the alleged crime over several months leading up to her husband’s arrival. Sandhya was apprehended on July 4, along with two accomplices, Venkat Sai and Anil.
Circle Inspector Suresh Kumar of Nizamabad Town South Rural Circle expressed his astonishment at the nature of the case. “I have never seen a situation where a wife injects poison into her husband while pretending to treat him,” he noted in an interview with The Indian Express.
Prashant, a resident of Nyalkal village in Telangana, had been married to Sandhya for three years. He moved to Dubai a year after their marriage to work as a domestic laborer, during which time Sandhya began a relationship with Anil, whom she met at a private hospital.
Upon learning in January that Prashant was planning to return home permanently due to the escalating tensions in the Gulf region, Sandhya reportedly became distressed, as stated by Inspector Kumar.
In the ensuing months, Sandhya allegedly collaborated with Anil and another friend, Venkat Sai, to execute her husband’s murder. During their conversations, she misled Prashant into believing that Anil was a close family friend and urged him to keep his return a secret from his relatives. After Prashant returned in late June, Sandhya organized a welcome party where alcohol was served, and subsequently led him and the two men to the terrace.
Once on the terrace, they purportedly pushed a drunken Prashant off the edge. When he did not die from the fall, they transported him to a local government hospital. However, Sandhya insisted on transferring him to a private facility. Instead, she took him back to their home and persuaded him to take an intravenous drip alongside his prescribed medication. While he was asleep, she injected the fatal combination into the IV, leading to his death, according to CI Suresh Kumar.
Afterward, Sandhya notified Prashant’s mother, B Shyamala, who grew suspicious and filed a complaint on July 1, prompting the investigation.
