Janhvi Kapoor made a striking impression at her sister Anshula Kapoor’s wedding reception, where her chic attire by Manish Malhotra garnered much attention. However, it was a particular detail in her mehendi that truly captivated her audience. Amidst the flurry of photos and videos shared on social media, observant fans discovered a romantic touch in her henna design that featured “Shikhu,” the nickname of her rumored boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya, written in Hindi.
For the occasion, Janhvi donned a luxurious silk saree paired with a strapless blouse, designed by Manish Malhotra. She later posted a series of images from the event on Instagram, while various videos circulated online, providing a glimpse into her bridal-inspired look.
As fans scrutinized her mehendi, many highlighted the inclusion of “Shikhu” in the design, which became one of the event’s most discussed elements, admired for its subtle yet affectionate sentiment.
Janhvi and Shikhar Pahariya have been acquainted since their teenage years and have maintained a significant connection throughout their lives. Initial dating rumors emerged in 2016, but speculation about their relationship waned after Janhvi’s Bollywood debut in 2018 with the film Dhadak.
During that time, the couple mostly kept their personal lives private. Nevertheless, in 2023, they were seen together at multiple events, vacations, temple outings, and Anant Ambani’s wedding festivities, sparking rumors of a rekindled romance. The pair has also frequently visited the Tirupati temple together.
Last year, at the screening of her father Boney Kapoor’s film Maidaan, Janhvi sported a customized necklace that featured Shikhar’s nickname, “Shiku.”
In an April conversation with Raj Shamani, Janhvi shared her views on love and described how Shikhar has created a “safe space” in her life. She expressed, “Love feels safe. It has helped me manage feelings of helplessness. His presence has been significant, allowing me to feel less helpless.”
She further elaborated, “It’s not merely a sense of calm. In this safe space, I can express my inner child. I share my happiest moments with him. True love helps you become your authentic self.”
Janhvi also mentioned how their relationship has enabled her to express herself more freely. “It has provided me with the confidence to articulate my thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or degradation,” she noted.
In a prior interview with Mirchi Plus, she reflected on their long-standing bond, saying, “He has been part of my life since I was about 15 or 16. Our dreams have always aligned, and we’ve been each other’s support system, almost like we’ve grown up together.”
Shikhar Pahariya is the grandson of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, and the son of businessman Sanjay Pahariya and businesswoman Smruti Shinde. An entrepreneur and investor, he studied Global Financial Management at Regent’s University London. He co-founded Indiawyn Gaming and later established Basilius International, an infrastructure development firm with global operations. Shikhar is also a well-known figure in Mumbai’s social scene, often seen at Bollywood events.
Janhvi Kapoor’s most recent appearance was in Ram Charan’s film Peddi, which faced criticism from some audiences for the portrayal of her character. Following the backlash, director Buchi Babu Sana issued an apology and made adjustments to the film.
Looking ahead, Janhvi is set to appear in Dharma Productions’ Lag Jaa Gale, alongside Tiger Shroff and Lakshya, with a release scheduled for May next year.
