Sri Lanka’s Rupee Settles at 336.00/60 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Rise

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Thursday, the Sri Lankan rupee ended the day weaker against the US dollar, closing at 336.00/60 in the spot market compared to 336.00/30 the previous day, according to dealers.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the rupee was valued at 331.50 for buying and 340.50 for selling against the US dollar. For the euro, the selling rate was 376.2676, while the buying rate was 390.1846. The pound was traded at a buying rate of 443.1308 and a selling rate of 457.1764.

In bond market activity, a bond maturing on September 15, 2027, remained unchanged, closing at 10.30/45 percent. Meanwhile, a bond due on December 15, 2029, saw an increase, finishing at 11.05/15 percent, up from 11.00/10 percent.

Additionally, a bond maturing on March 1, 2030, closed at 11.15/25 percent, while another bond set to mature on August 1, 2030, rose to 11.40/45 percent from the previous 11.30/35 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on October 15, 2030, increased to 11.45/50 percent, up from 11.36/40 percent, and a bond due on December 15, 2032, closed at 11.65/75 percent, an increase from 11.60/70 percent.
