A 16-year-old male has been charged with murder following the discovery of a man suffering from severe injuries in Taree, located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

The individual, aged 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

The teenager made an appearance at the Parramatta Children’s Court today but did not request bail.

Authorities announced that the youth faces murder charges after the older man was found with significant stab wounds, with police confirming that the two individuals were acquainted.

Emergency services responded to a call at a residence in Taree around 5 AM on Monday.

The deceased had reportedly attempted to obtain assistance from a neighbor before succumbing to his injuries.

Superintendent Grant Erickson stated that the New South Wales Police have formed Strike Force Hexalon to delve into the circumstances surrounding this case.

“This is a deeply unfortunate incident, and I recognize that there are community members who might possess relevant information,” he remarked.

He expressed gratitude to those who have stepped forward to provide information, which has been compiled alongside forensic evidence.

According to Superintendent Erickson, while the deceased man had no prior dealings with law enforcement, the teenager was known to the police.

The 16-year-old was apprehended at a Taree residence on Wednesday and subsequently charged with murder.

Superintendent Erickson clarified that although the two individuals were acquainted, they were not considered associates.

During his court appearance, the teenager did not seek bail, which was officially denied. The case is scheduled to be revisited at Taree Children’s Court on September 10.
