In Patiala on Wednesday, a tragic incident occurred involving a family, resulting in the deaths of two members and leaving two others hospitalized, following an apparent suicide attempt.

The deceased have been identified as a 45-year-old bank employee and his teenage daughter. Meanwhile, the man’s wife and their 11-year-old son are currently receiving medical care at Rajindra Medical College in the city.

According to Patiala DSP (City-I) Sanjeev Singla, the woman’s account suggests that the family made the attempt due to significant stress stemming from financial difficulties. The district court judge has documented her statement for further review.

The police are actively investigating the situation and exploring all potential leads. They are gathering statements from relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances of the family to better understand the factors that may have contributed to this unfortunate event.

The remains of the deceased have been dispatched for a post-mortem examination. Authorities indicated that subsequent actions will be determined once the medical findings and the testimonies of the surviving relatives are obtained.
