Urgent Investigation Launched Following Fatality During Telstra Service Disruption

Authorities in South Australia are currently examining a fatality that occurred at a regional medical facility yesterday. This follows comments made by Liberal Senator Kerrynne Liddle, who indicated that an elderly individual passed away during a Telstra service disruption.

According to a statement from South Australian Police, officers visited Senator Liddle’s office and engaged with her and her team on Thursday. “Following this interaction, we reached out to the family of the deceased, who died at a regional hospital on Wednesday, July 8,” the police reported. They clarified that they had not been informed about the death prior to this communication and emphasized that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was promptly initiated.

On Wednesday evening, Senator Liddle took to social media to share news of the tragic incident, stating that her office had received a report regarding the death, which allegedly followed an inability to connect with Triple Zero, the emergency service number. “This loss represents a heartbreaking failure for the family involved. Our condolences are with them. No Australian should ever face the inability to reach Triple Zero when it is crucial for their safety,” Senator Liddle expressed in her post.

In response to the senator’s remarks, South Australian Police, in their comments section, initially stated that they were “unaware of any fatality in South Australia today linked to the Telstra nationwide outage.”
