Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 335.70/90 Against the US Dollar, Bond Yields Remain Steady

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Sri Lankan rupee appreciated slightly against the US dollar, closing at 335.70/90 in the spot market, compared to the previous day’s rate of 336.00/60, according to market dealers.

In the bond market, yields remained stable. A bond set to mature on September 15, 2027, ended the day flat at 10.30/45 percent. Meanwhile, another bond maturing on May 1, 2028, recorded a yield of 10.60/70 percent.

For bonds maturing on December 15, 2029, the yield remained unchanged at 11.05/15 percent, while a bond maturing on May 15, 2030, closed at 11.30/40 percent. Additionally, a bond with a maturity date of August 1, 2030, showed no change, finishing at 11.40/45 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2030, also closed flat at 11.45/50 percent.

Conversely, a bond set to mature on December 15, 2032, saw a slight decrease, closing at 11.60/70 percent, down from the previous 11.65/75 percent. Other bonds, including one maturing on January 15, 2033, closed at 11.65/75 percent, and a bond due on November 1, 2033, finished at 11.75/85 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on June 15, 2034, closed at 11.80/90 percent.
