Intex-InMac Sri Lanka, a leading international exhibition for textile sourcing and garment manufacturing technology in South Asia, was officially launched today, August 5, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. The event was inaugurated by Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, accompanied by Mr. Yasas Hewage, Chairman of the Industrial Development Board (IDB), Mr. Felix Fernando, Chairman of the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), and various senior government officials, ambassadors, industry leaders, business chamber representatives, trade associations, exhibitors, and international buyer delegations.
After the formal inauguration, the dignitaries explored the exhibition spaces and ceremonially opened the Incredible Textiles of India Pavilion, a key international highlight of this year’s event, which displays India’s wide-ranging textile capabilities and innovations.
While addressing attendees, Minister Sunil Handunnetti emphasized that “Competitiveness is driven not by capacity alone, but by innovation and adaptability. Intex 2026 provides the platform for the industry to embrace these strengths and compete successfully in the global marketplace.”
Mr. Yasas Hewage, the IDB Chairman, also spoke at the inauguration, stating that the IDB is establishing a foundation for the transformation of Sri Lanka’s industrial sector by fostering innovation, reinforcing local industries, and generating growth opportunities.
Scheduled from August 5 to 7, 2026, Intex-InMac Sri Lanka features over 250 exhibitors from more than 15 different countries and regions, positioning it as the largest international platform for textile sourcing and garment technology in Sri Lanka. The exhibition covers a wide array of products, including apparel fabrics, cotton, polyester, blended materials, knitted and woven fabrics, denim, linen, rayon fabrics, yarns and fibers, interlinings, sewing and embroidery threads, zippers, labels, garment accessories, textile printing inks, dyes, chemicals, digital textile printing solutions, and machine accessories. InMac showcases garment machinery and equipment, including sewing, overlock, and flatlock machines, cutting machines, digital textile printing and DTG solutions, dyeing and bleaching machines, commercial laundry equipment, spinning and winding machinery, heat press machines, screen printing equipment, and parts and accessories for textile machinery, along with automation solutions for garment manufacturing. The exhibition will run until August 7, 2026, at BMICH, Colombo, promoting sourcing, innovation, and business opportunities.
