A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of this morning in the southern part of Brisbane, resulting in the death of a man following a collision between his vehicle and a parked truck.

Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Freeman Road and Firth Street in Richlands shortly after 4 AM to address the situation.

The driver sustained severe injuries from the accident and unfortunately succumbed to them at the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who possesses dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.

The Forensic Crash Unit is currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Recent statistics from the government reveal that from January 1 to August 2 of this year, 185 fatalities have occurred on Queensland roads, marking a 10.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
