A man from Melbourne has been placed in custody following his extradition to Perth, where he faces allegations of sexually assaulting a minor he reportedly met via social media and online gaming platforms.

Authorities have identified 31-year-old Gumarn Yenpensook Coldicott as the individual involved, stating that he interacted with the girl online before traveling to Perth to meet her in September 2025.

The charges against him include indecent dealing, creating an indecent recording, and three counts of sexual penetration of a child aged between 13 and 16 years.

The victim, who resides in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, reported the incidents to the police in January of this year, as confirmed by investigators.

A collaborative operation involving WA Police, the Sexual Crimes Investigation Team of Victoria Police, and the Australian Border Force led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Point Cook on Monday.

Mr. Coldicott was subsequently arrested and extradited to Perth, where he made a brief appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday. During this hearing, he chose not to request bail.

In court, he remained silent, merely nodding to acknowledge his understanding of the charges presented against him.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch emphasized the severity of the allegations, expressing concern for parents regarding the involvement of gaming platforms in such incidents. He highlighted the importance of parental awareness in monitoring their children’s online interactions.

Commissioner Blanch stated, “The very nature that that engagement did occur across the country on gaming and/or social media platforms is concerning. It just reinforces, if you’re a young person and you’re at home, parents should be involved in your life enough to know what you are doing and who you’re talking to because things like this sadly do happen.”
