Perez Hilton, the well-known celebrity blogger, has been hospitalized following a distressing live stream on TikTok where he displayed self-harming behavior.
On Tuesday evening, emergency responders were spotted outside Hilton’s residence in Miami, prompted by public reports of the graphic content being shared live on social media. Shortly after the alarming footage was broadcast, Hilton’s TikTok account was suspended.
While the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not identify Hilton by name, they confirmed their presence at the scene in response to calls regarding a man engaging in self-harm on social media.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with family members and opted for a “tactical disengagement” while they monitored the unfolding situation, according to their statement.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office emphasized that in cases involving individuals in mental health crises or those harming themselves, deputies focus on de-escalating the situation by creating distance and facilitating communication. “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, taking time to slow down the situation and employing crisis intervention strategies can help prevent potential violent outcomes and reduce risks to all involved,” the office stated.
During the live stream, it was confirmed that Hilton was alone in his residence.
Later that evening, the sheriff’s office reported that the individual had been “safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital for medical care.”
Hilton’s representatives, Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, released a joint statement to TMZ expressing their awareness of the troubling online content involving their client. “Currently, we have been unable to reach him directly despite our efforts. Our foremost concern is Perez’s health and the well-being of his family. We will refrain from speculation or further comments until we have verified information. We appreciate everyone’s concern and request privacy for him during this challenging time,” they stated.
Born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., Hilton gained prominence in the mid-2000s with his acerbic commentary on celebrity culture through his personal blog. Although it enjoyed significant popularity at its peak, interest waned over time, leading Hilton to transition into reality television and podcasting. In June, he announced his relocation from Las Vegas to Miami with his three young children.
