Sri Lankan Rupee Settles at 335.55/60 Against the US Dollar as Bond Yields Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, ended the trading session at 335.55/60 against the US dollar in the spot market, a slight decrease from the previous day’s closing rate of 335.70/75. Dealers reported a decline in bond yields during the same period.

A bond due on September 15, 2027, finished at 10.00/20 percent, down from the earlier rate of 10.10/30 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on October 15, 2028, closed at 10.50/65 percent, a reduction from 10.60/70 percent. The bond set to mature on December 15, 2029, ended at 10.90/11.00 percent, compared to 10.95/11.05 percent previously.

For the bond maturing on October 15, 2030, the closing rate was 11.30/35 percent, down from 11.42/45 percent. The bond due on February 15, 2031, concluded at 11.35/42 percent. A bond maturing on January 15, 2033, closed at 11.95/12.00 percent, which is lower than the previous 12.05/15 percent. The bond maturing on October 15, 2034, finished at 12.15/20 percent, down from 12.20/30 percent. Additionally, a bond due on August 15, 2036, closed at 12.60/65 percent, and the bond maturing on July 1, 2037, ended at 12.65/70 percent, a decrease from the earlier rate of 12.75/85 percent.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the dollar was available for buying at 331.25 and selling at 340.25. The euro was priced at 379.5300 for buying and 393.3108 for selling, while the pound had rates of 444.4763 for buying and 458.5847 for selling.
