Perez Hilton, a well-known celebrity gossip journalist, was hospitalized in Miami on Tuesday evening following a livestream in which he exhibited “acts of self-harm,” according to local authorities.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office reported that they received numerous calls regarding the situation and quickly dispatched deputies to the location. Upon arrival, officers engaged with family members and discovered that Hilton was alone in his residence.
During the now-removed livestream, Hilton appeared visibly injured and was in a significant emotional crisis.
“The Crisis Response Unit of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, along with Licensed Mental Health Professionals, are present to offer assistance and resources to the family,” the sheriff’s office reported.
On Wednesday afternoon, an update was published on Hilton’s website, stating, “We will provide updates as soon as we are able.” The statement emphasized that “Perez is currently receiving medical attention, and our family’s primary concern is his health.” They further requested that the public respect both Perez’s and his family’s privacy during this challenging time.
At 48 years of age, Hilton gained fame in the early 2000s through a provocative celebrity blog. Over the years, he has sparked numerous controversies with his candid and often harsh critiques of the celebrity world.
