A tragic incident occurred in New York Harbor on Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of a woman and her five-month-old infant after a boat capsized, as reported by law enforcement officials.

The New York Police Department received an emergency call regarding the overturned vessel near Liberty Island at approximately 10:55 PM. In response, they dispatched a harbor unit along with scuba divers and an aviation team to assist at the site, where 12 individuals had already been rescued from the water before their arrival.

Despite the rescue efforts, a 27-year-old woman and a five-month-old baby girl were found and subsequently taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival, according to the authorities. Their relationship has not been confirmed at this time.
