FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Wednesday, the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a positive trading session, according to data from the CSE. The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 0.07 percent.
The ASPI rose by 15.77 points, reaching a total of 21,418.57, while the more active S&P SL20 index saw a gain of 0.35 percent, equivalent to 20.87 points, ending at 6,004.01.
Several stocks contributed positively to the ASPI’s performance, including Dialog Axiata, which increased by 1.58 percent to 45.00 rupees, National Development Bank with a 1.85 percent rise to 110.25 rupees, Dipped Products climbing 4.78 percent to 59.20 rupees, John Keells Holdings growing by 0.50 percent to 20.00 rupees, and Central Finance Company, which saw a 1.21 percent increase to 230.00 rupees.
Conversely, the leading decliners included Ceylon Beverage Holdings, which fell 6.03 percent to 2,800.00 rupees, Cargills (Ceylon) down 1.93 percent to 662.00 rupees, and Ceylon Cold Stores, which decreased by 1.38 percent to 125.25 rupees.
The total market turnover for the day was recorded at 2.055 billion rupees, with the Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector leading the way, generating a turnover of 783.7 million rupees.
In corporate news, Citizens Development Business Finance announced that its Executive Director, D. A. De Silva, acquired 650,000 voting shares at 40.00 rupees per share on August 11, 2026. The company’s shares closed with a slight increase of 1.02 percent at 39.50 rupees.
Additionally, AMW Capital Leasing and Finance revealed that Fitch Ratings has upgraded the company’s National Long-Term Rating from ‘BBB(lka)’ to ‘BBB+(lka)’, maintaining a Stable Outlook.
