On Saturday, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, announced the upcoming launch of the Mukhyamantri Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana, which is set to begin in Solan on October 2. This initiative aims to provide support to approximately 200,000 families in the state.
The scheme will grant eligible women a monthly pension of Rs 1,500 along with 300 units of complimentary electricity. The Chief Minister emphasized that this program is designed to ensure that even the most disadvantaged groups in the community can access their fair share of the state’s resources.
Speaking to a public assembly in Kangra, Sukhu noted that surveys are currently being carried out in local panchayats to determine eligible beneficiaries. He mentioned that around 90,000 families had been identified as not having received any benefits from existing government welfare programs.
The Chief Minister highlighted that his administration has implemented various initiatives since taking office to foster self-sufficiency in Himachal Pradesh, claiming that the positive outcomes of these efforts are becoming apparent.
Sukhu also revealed that the state will establish its first ozone-based drinking water treatment facility in Dehra, with an investment of Rs 46 crore. This project will utilize ozone gas for water disinfection and enhancement of taste, thereby supplying treated drinking water to local residents. He indicated that similar projects would be rolled out in other areas across the state in the future.
Additionally, Sukhu announced the inauguration of a veterinary hospital in Baddal Thor and assured that measures would be taken to ensure the Community Health Centre in Kasba Kotla operates 24/7. He also mentioned plans to set up a new Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Dadasiba, with formal notification to be issued soon.
In a gesture to support local communities, Sukhu released Rs 3,500 to each of the 1,012 fisher families under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Samman Nidhi Yojana through direct benefit transfer. During his visit to Hamirpur, he laid the foundation stone for a new Rs 17.52 crore building for the Government Senior Secondary School in Nadaun, which will include classrooms, laboratories, a library, and additional amenities.
Furthermore, Sukhu outlined other government projects, including the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana, which aims to engage youth and women’s groups in tree planting and forest conservation efforts. Under this program, self-help groups will receive financial support of Rs 1.20 lakh, along with incentives tied to the survival rate of the planted trees.
He also mentioned ongoing enhancements in the education sector, including the establishment of CBSE schools, with plans for additional institutions in the near future.
