FINANCIAL CHRONICLE — The Cabinet of Sri Lanka has given its approval for a proposal to establish a complementary adjustment agreement with Brazil, aimed at advancing a sugarcane development project, as announced by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.

On September 16, 2008, Sri Lanka and Brazil originally signed a foundational Technical Cooperation Agreement, which was designed to foster collaboration in various sectors of mutual interest.

Minister Jayatissa explained that the implementation of programs and projects under this fundamental agreement necessitates the establishment of complementary coordination agreements.

In line with this initial framework, certain initiatives must be carried out through distinct Complementary Adjustment Agreements.

During a Cabinet meeting held in May, permission was granted to enter a project collaboration agreement involving the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, the Federal University of São Carlos, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, and the Sugarcane Research Institute.
