Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott has expressed admiration for Jadeja’s skill set.
On the Stick to Cricket podcast, Boycott remarked, “Jadeja bowls exceptionally well; his fielding is electrifying, and he possesses the ability to bat effectively. Reflecting on their encounter, Boycott recalled, “When I visited India last year, I told him, ‘You are my favorite cricketer.’ He was surprised and replied, ‘No way,’ but I insisted, ‘Absolutely.’ He is not only good-looking but also a pleasant individual. He truly is a remarkable cricketer, an all-rounder in every sense.”
This is not a singular instance of praise from Boycott. He previously commended Jadeja while the Indian team was touring England, stating, “I like Jadeja. He has always been a significant presence in the game. He bowls left-arm spin, and his fielding is exceptional. My philosophy has always been that if you can perform admirably for the team, you can become a great player and score runs. However, there is another quality that often goes unmentioned.”
He continued, “That quality is the ability to elevate the performance of your teammates. Jadeja’s energetic fielding and batting, combined with his competitive spirit and a smile on his face, make him a top player. Stuart Broad’s co-host on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, veteran wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, also praised Jadeja in a recent episode. “He is extremely challenging to face, particularly in India. I think of key moments when I consider him; he is a truly courageous player. He consistently rises to the occasion during tight situations, delivering crucial runs when needed. He often plays a hybrid role, sometimes batting at number five when conditions are tricky. In a way, he is an underrated batsman,” Buttler stated regarding Jadeja.
