A man was fatally shot in Western Sydney, marking what is suspected to be a further intensification of gang-related violence in the area.

Authorities received emergency calls at around 3:15 PM concerning a shooting incident that occurred in the driveway of a residence in Merrylands West.

The victim, who police believe is in his 30s, received medical assistance from NSW Ambulance paramedics for his gunshot injuries but unfortunately succumbed to his wounds on-site.

This event marks the second lethal shooting linked to organized crime this week, following the tragic death of university student Marco Tapia, who was killed the previous day in his home in Glen Alpine.
