Prashant Singh, who has been instrumental in the Khelo India initiative and has played a significant role in preparing Indian teams for prestigious events such as the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and the upcoming Paris Olympics, has taken on the role of Regional Director at the Sports Authority of India’s regional center in Gandhinagar. Singh, originally from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, will oversee SAI operations in both Gujarat and Rajasthan, as announced by government officials. Before this new position, he was already stationed in Gandhinagar, where he was responsible for the execution of various programs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports across the two states.

Meanwhile, Raju Bhargava, an IPS officer from the 1995 batch, has retired from his position as the Director General of Police for Armed Units after his recent transfer to Rajkot as police commissioner following the tragic TRP Game Zone fire that resulted in 27 fatalities in May 2024. Piyush Patel, the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, will now assume additional responsibilities for the Armed Units. With the position of Surat’s police chief also currently unfilled, it is anticipated that a reshuffle within the IPS ranks could occur in the near future.
