The son of Mahesh Babu, Gautam Ghattamaneni, has recently attracted attention from movie enthusiasts after fans stumbled upon his profile on the film-rating platform Letterboxd. Notably, his rating of 0.5 stars for the film “Toxic,” which premiered on August 26, has sparked considerable discussion among the audience, particularly due to the film’s mixed reviews from both fans and critics.
At just 20 years old, Gautam is a dedicated cinema lover who has reportedly watched over 400 films spanning various languages and genres. His Letterboxd profile, showcasing his film ratings, has become a topic of conversation among cinephiles.
In addition to his ratings of various films, Gautam has also evaluated several projects featuring his father, Mahesh Babu. While he awarded five stars to “Pokiri” and “1: Nenokkadine,” some of Mahesh Babu’s other films received notably lower scores. For instance, “Nijam” and “Vamsi” were rated at two stars each, whereas “Brahmotsavam” only garnered one star.
These ratings suggest that Gautam’s opinions are not merely influenced by familial ties to the stars or directors involved, indicating a more objective approach to his assessments.
Beyond Telugu cinema, Gautam’s taste in films is diverse. He has rated classics such as “Sholay,” “Project Hail Mary,” “Knives Out,” and “Jersey” with five stars. Additionally, “Baahubali 2” also received a five-star rating, while “Pelli Choopulu” and “Sita Ramam” were rated at 4.5 stars each.
Interestingly, he rated “Liger” the same as “Toxic,” with both films receiving just half a star, reinforcing that his critical evaluation is consistent across different titles.
Furthermore, his profile includes ratings for the much-discussed “Dhurandhar,” which earned four stars, while its sequel, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” received three stars.
Gautam’s low rating for “Toxic” has added to the conversation surrounding the film, which continues to elicit mixed reactions from viewers. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, “Toxic” features Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. Despite a strong opening at the box office, the film has divided audiences and critics regarding its storyline and execution.
As of the seventh day post-release, “Toxic” has accumulated a total gross of Rs 272.80 crore in India, with a net collection of Rs 229.95 crore. On a global scale, the film’s earnings have surpassed Rs 313 crore.
