FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit 2026 is set to explore both the prospects and challenges brought about by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation, which have the potential to revolutionize various sectors and foster new economic activities, according to the event’s organizers.
On the second day of the summit, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host a special session entitled “Nation Building in the Digital Age,” where Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya will deliver the keynote address.
This session aims to discuss how Sri Lanka can leverage artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, and education to drive economic advancement, enhance productivity, and cultivate a knowledge-based economy, as noted by the chamber.
With technology reshaping industries and altering the workforce landscape, the dialogue will center on how Sri Lanka can develop the necessary skills and capabilities to maintain its competitiveness.
The panel will feature insights from notable figures such as Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy; Roshan Ragel, a Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering at the University of Peradeniya; and Sanjay Shah, the Founder and CEO of Elevante AI, representing government, academia, and industry perspectives.
Moderating the session will be Vinod Hirdaramani, Chairman of the Hirdaramani Group and Deputy Vice Chairperson of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Furthermore, education and skills training will be critical topics of discussion. The panel will evaluate how Sri Lanka can equip its workforce for emerging job roles while fostering an environment conducive to innovation and technology-driven enterprises.
The discussion will extend beyond technology alone, addressing the broader conditions essential for the growth of a digital economy. Factors such as policy, investment, infrastructure, education, and collaboration among government, industry, and academia will play a vital role in determining how effectively Sri Lanka can convert technological advancements into economic opportunities.
The SLEIS 2026 will present insights from high-ranking policymakers, business leaders, investors, and international experts over two days of discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s economic trajectory, investment prospects, and the reforms required to facilitate future growth.
