On the morning of August 31, Nandu Lal, a daily laborer from Bihar, was struck by a fast-moving SUV while walking near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) roundabout in Hyderabad. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately.
At the time of the incident, a passerby named Zaid Quadri intervened to assist the seriously injured Lal. However, while Quadri was attempting to transport Lal in his own car, another SUV collided with his vehicle.
The collision resulted in Lal’s death at the scene, while Quadri sustained severe injuries. The second SUV also left the area without stopping.
The Raidurgam Police initiated an investigation, registering a case and searching for the two drivers involved in the hit-and-run incidents. They reviewed CCTV footage, which led them to identify the second SUV through its damaged bumper. On Tuesday, authorities confirmed that the vehicle belonged to Anand Sai, a well-known art director, and that his son, Sandeep, was driving at the time of the crash.
Inspector Thota Bhupathi of the Raidurgam Police confirmed Sandeep’s involvement and stated that he was apprehended and taken to the police station on Tuesday afternoon. The SUV he was operating has also been confiscated.
Meanwhile, the SUV that initially struck Lal while he was heading towards Khajaguda village remains unlocated. Police have indicated that efforts are ongoing to identify the vehicle and make arrests in connection with the case shortly.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic event involving a prominent individual’s son, which resulted in a fatality. On August 21, Cyberabad Police summoned Sanjush, the son of Jana Sena Party Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, after his Aston Martin fatally struck a woman outside a shopping mall in Hyderabad.
The accident occurred on August 16, when the 21-year-old allegedly sped in the luxury vehicle, hitting 26-year-old Bharati Mukhi, who worked at the mall. Sanjush did stop to assist and took the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. He has not yet been arrested, as authorities are currently seeking legal advice regarding the incident.
