The U.S. Mint is set to launch gold-hued $1 coins featuring the image of President Donald Trump starting at noon Eastern Time on Wednesday. The coins will be priced between approximately $1.55 and $2.44 each.

Originally revealed in July, these coins showcase a depiction of President Trump on the front, accompanied by the words “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and “1776 ~ 2026.” The reverse side features the presidential seal, which includes an eagle clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, alongside the inscription “250” in recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States.

The cost of the coins varies depending on the quantity purchased. For instance, a roll containing 25 coins is available for $61, while a bag with 100 coins is priced at $154.50.

While U.S. regulations typically restrict the depiction of living individuals on currency, the Trump administration has asserted that the president’s image can be featured on a coin due to a 2020 law that allows for new designs celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The U.S. Mint clarified that these new coins are considered legal tender, but they also emphasize their appeal as collectible items.

“Designed to commemorate this significant national milestone, these unique circulating dollar coins merge everyday American coinage with a distinctive anniversary design that is expected to be a remarkable addition to modern collections,” stated the U.S. Mint.

Although the Trump coins have a gold appearance, they are primarily made of copper, containing 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel, with no actual gold content.

Additionally, the U.S. Mint announced that it will randomly distribute 250,000 special-edition $1 Trump coins featuring a “July 4th” privy mark within the bags and rolls available on its website.
