As the Delhi Police prepare to take the case of the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl aboard a moving bus to a fast-track court, they have reached out to the Forensic Science Laboratory for a swift analysis of biological evidence, including semen and hair samples.

Initial investigations suggest that the incident occurred in the Bakhtawarpur region after the victim boarded the bus at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida, according to police officials.

The girl, who had traveled from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, was en route to her uncle’s residence in Noida Sector 63 and was not familiar with the area.

On a rainy day, she stood at Pari Chowk when a bus stopped nearby. When she informed the men aboard that she wanted to go to Sector 63, they allegedly assured her that the bus was going in that direction, prompting her to board.

However, she later realized that the bus was empty except for the crew, and she attempted to exit. Reports indicate that the conductor forcibly pulled her back inside, and the bus continued its journey.

The vehicle then proceeded towards Bakhtawarpur, where the girl claims she was raped by two men while the bus was in motion.

After traveling nearly 47 kilometers towards Delhi, the bus reached the Kashmere Gate area, where the girl was reportedly abandoned, as per police findings.

Following the incident, both the driver and the conductor were arrested, and the bus has been secured for forensic evaluation.

This case has raised concerns about the safety and regulatory compliance of the bus involved. Reports indicate that the bus traveled through various routes linking Greater Noida, Noida, and Delhi without undergoing any safety checks.

Investigators discovered that the bus’s CCTV camera was not functioning and that it had 11 outstanding traffic violations, including issues related to speed-limit devices and necessary permits.

Moreover, the bus was fitted with heavy curtains that obscured visibility into the passenger area from outside. Authorities are currently investigating whether other essential safety features, such as GPS tracking systems and panic buttons, were installed and operational at the time of the incident, as well as if any alerts or location data were generated during the trip.

Forensic evidence has been collected from the bus, with biological samples sent to the FSL for analysis. Sources indicate that police have requested an expedited examination to facilitate the preparation of the case for trial.

The investigation remains ongoing.
