Lando Norris has established a new junior single-seater racing team called LN4 Fusion, which will participate in various championships, including the feeder series for Formula One, namely F3 and F2. This initiative comes as the reigning Formula One world champion aims to support emerging drivers in their journey to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Norris’s direct investment in this venture, along with a consortium of investors, marks the first occasion that a Formula One champion has actively endorsed a team in the contemporary junior single-seater category. In conjunction with this project, he has initiated the LN4 Legacy programme, designed to scout and nurture talent from karting to higher levels, offering financial, coaching, and career support.

The McLaren driver unveiled this initiative during a launch event in Monza, coinciding with the Italian Grand Prix weekend. This ambitious undertaking seeks to tackle the obstacles faced by junior drivers, which Norris has previously highlighted as a significant issue within the sport.

“Reaching Formula One requires much more than just skill. You must have the right support network, the right people, and the right opportunities at crucial moments,” he stated.

“These two initiatives are designed to address those needs. LN4 Fusion aims to create a competitive racing team in junior motorsport, fostering an environment conducive to driver development. Meanwhile, the LN4 Legacy programme is focused on providing talented young drivers with opportunities they might otherwise miss out on.”

“Both projects are intertwined. I aspire to generate opportunities for the next generation, both on the track and beyond, and genuinely make a difference for young drivers in the sport.”

LN4 Fusion intends to compete in several championships starting next year, with established plans for F3 by 2027, in addition to participating in both the Italian F4 Championship and the FIA Formula Regional European Championship. The team has secured significant assets from the German outfit AIX Racing, which holds an F3 entry through the 2027 season and has applied to join the F2 Championship.

Norris will be actively involved in the team’s operations, a move that has garnered praise from Formula One’s CEO, Stefano Domenicali. “Lando Norris’s involvement in this new project sends a powerful message about the importance of the Formula 3 and Formula 2 ladder for the future of Formula One,” he remarked. “With Lando’s investment and insights, we can cultivate new talent, engineers, and mechanics, contributing to a legacy cherished by motorsport enthusiasts.”

The seriousness of Norris’s ambitions is further underscored by the appointment of René Rosin as team principal. Rosin previously served as the principal and managing director of Prema, a team with over four decades of experience in junior racing, known for its success in cultivating drivers who later excelled in Formula One, including current stars like Kimi Antonelli and Charles Leclerc.

The LN4 Fusion team will also integrate the expertise and personnel from Fusion Motorsport, a successful entity in UK karting with a legacy of national and international titles over the past 25 years. Dan Hazlewood, head of Fusion Motorsport, will lead the LN4 Fusion UK branch, managing the British F4 championship entry and fostering talent from karting.

With racing scheduled to commence in 2027, the team is establishing a European headquarters in Veneto, northern Italy, complemented by a growing base in Cambridgeshire focused on the F4 programme.

Rosin emphasized the significance of Norris’s participation in the project, highlighting the expectations for success. “Lando’s involvement brings a valuable perspective to this initiative,” he noted. “His journey through junior racing equips him with insights into its challenges. His presence will positively impact the team as we aim to create a pathway in junior single-seaters that allows drivers, engineers, and support staff to excel.”

Dan Richards, the chief executive, shared this optimism, confident that they possess all the essential components for success. “What we have built transcends the mere acquisition of a racing team,” he stated. “We have forged a unique alliance, bringing together an established operation, a Formula One champion, a leading team principal in junior racing, world-class motorsport expertise, substantial investment, and a common goal to create a high-performing team in the sport.”
