FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka successfully issued treasury bills worth 8 billion rupees, with average interest rates recorded at 8.96%, 9.27%, and 9.81%, according to the public debt management office. This transaction contributes to a total of 88 billion rupees in treasury bills sold during the current week.
The overall market demand for these bills reached 23.83 billion rupees. Specifically, the debt office issued a 3-month treasury bill at an interest rate of 8.96%, a 6-month bill at 9.27%, and a 12-month bill at 9.81%.
On Wednesday, September 2, the debt office had previously raised 80 billion rupees through the sale of 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month treasury bills. Following this, all three types of bills were made available on a tap basis. (Colombo/Sep 3/2026)
